I WANT TO THINK LIKE A KID AGAIN

When adults look at a patch of dandelions, they see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over their yard.

Kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff you can wish on.

When adults look at an old drunk and he smiles at them, they see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money, and they look away.

Kids see someone smiling at them, and they smile back.

When adults hear music they love, they know they can't carry a tune and don't have much rhythm, so they sit self consciously and listen.

Kids feel the beat and move to it. They sing out the words.
If they don't know them, they make up their own.

When adults feel wind on my face, they brace themselves against it.
They feel it messing up their hair and pulling them back when they walk.

Kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.

When adults pray, they say thee and thou and grant us this, give us that.

Kids say, "Hi God!!! Thanks for my toys and my friends.
Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don't want to go to Heaven yet. I would miss my Mommy and my Daddy."

When adults see a mud puddle, they step around it.
They see muddy shoes and clothes and dirty carpets.

Kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross and worms to play with.

Sometimes as adults, we may think we know everything. But do we? As we grow old our lives get more and more complicated. We start overanalyzing, criticizing and getting stressed. Then we start reminiscing on our youth and we wish we were young again.
Here are some simple ways to get us to start thinking like our younger years. These were the simple times, when life was much easier. We didn’t have to worry about much and the only thing we hated to do was take a bath. These tips will help us think like a child again.

1. Ask a lot of Questions

2. Create a sandcastle

3. Make a tree house

4. Get Dirty

5. Sing along to your favorite songs

6. Watch cartoons

7. Wear shirts your mom picked out

8. Use rock, paper, scissors to negotiate

9. Play video games

10. Have a sleepover

11. Listen to your parents

12. Do not accept “no” for an answer

13. Make friends wherever you go

14. Build a tent in your living room

15. Be fearless

16. If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say nothing at all

17. JUST HAVE FUN

*What has helped you to think like a child? Would love some suggestions!
