I WANT TO THINK LIKE A KID AGAIN

When adults look at a patch of dandelions, they see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over their yard.

Kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff you can wish on.

When adults look at an old drunk and he smiles at them, they see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money, and they look away.

Kids see someone smiling at them, and they smile back.

When adults hear music they love, they know they can't carry a tune and don't have much rhythm, so they sit self consciously and listen.

Kids feel the beat and move to it. They sing out the words.
If they don't know them, they make up their own.

When adults feel wind on my face, they brace themselves against it.
They feel it messing up their hair and pulling them back when they walk.

Kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.

When adults pray, they say thee and thou and grant us this, give us that.

Kids say, "Hi God!!! Thanks for my toys and my friends.
Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don't want to go to Heaven yet. I would miss my Mommy and my Daddy."

When adults see a mud puddle, they step around it.
They see muddy shoes and clothes and dirty carpets.

Kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross and worms to play with.

Sometimes as adults, we may think we know everything. But do we? As we grow old our lives get more and more complicated. We start overanalyzing, criticizing and getting stressed. Then we start reminiscing on our youth and we wish we were young again.
Here are some simple ways to get us to start thinking like our younger years. These were the simple times, when life was much easier. We didn’t have to worry about much and the only thing we hated to do was take a bath. These tips will help us think like a child again.

1. Ask a lot of Questions

2. Create a sandcastle

3. Make a tree house

4. Get Dirty

5. Sing along to your favorite songs

6. Watch cartoons

7. Wear shirts your mom picked out

8. Use rock, paper, scissors to negotiate

9. Play video games

10. Have a sleepover

11. Listen to your parents

12. Do not accept “no” for an answer

13. Make friends wherever you go

14. Build a tent in your living room

15. Be fearless

16. If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say nothing at all

17. JUST HAVE FUN

*What has helped you to think like a child? Would love some suggestions!

CAGED BIRD

The free bird leaps
on the back of the win
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and is tune is heard
on the distant hillfor the caged bird
sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
an the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

WISDOM OF EATING AND DRINKING

Then an old man, a keeper of an inn, said, "Speak to us of Eating and Drinking."

And he said:

Would that you could live on the fragrance of the earth, and like an air plant be sustained by the light.

But since you must kill to eat, and rob the young of its mother's milk to quench your thirst, let it then be an act of worship,

And let your board stand an altar on which the pure and the innocent of forest and plain are sacrificed for that which is purer and still more innocent in many.

When you kill a beast say to him in your heart,

"By the same power that slays you, I to am slain; and I too shall be consumed. For the law that delivered you into my hand shall deliver me into a mightier hand.

Your blood and my blood is naught but the sap that feeds the tree of heaven."

And when you crush an apple with your teeth, say to it in your heart,

"Your seeds shall live in my body,

And the buds of your tomorrow shall blossom in my heart,

And your fragrance shall be my breath,

And together we shall rejoice through all the seasons."

And in the autumn, when you gather the grapes of your vineyard for the winepress, say in you heart,

"I too am a vineyard, and my fruit shall be gathered for the winepress,

And like new wine I shall be kept in eternal vessels."

And in winter, when you draw the wine, let there be in your heart a song for each cup;

And let there be in the song a remembrance for the autumn days, and for the vineyard, and for the winepress.

CHILDREN

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, 'Speak to us of Children.'

And he said:

Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts.

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;

For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

THE GLASS OF WATER

Study this small story, Hope that makes a BIG change in YOU

Professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see & asked the students

"How much do you think this glass weighs?"

'50gms!' ..... '100gms!' .....'125gms' ...the students
answered.

"I really don't know unless I weigh it," said the
professor, "but, my question is:
What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?"

'Nothing' …..the students said.

'Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?' the
professor asked.

'Your arm would begin to ache' said one of the student

"You're right, now what would happen if I held it for a
day?"

"Your arm could go numb, you might have severe muscle stress
& paralysis & have to go to hospital for sure!"

….. ventured another student & all the students laughed

"Very good.
But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?"
asked the professor.

'No'…. Was the answer.

"Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?"

The students were puzzled.

"What should I do now to come out of pain?" asked professor
again.

"Put the glass down!" said one of the students

"Exactly!" said the professor.

Life's problems are something like this.

Hold it for a few minutes in your head & they seem OK.
Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache.

Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you. You will not be
able to do anything.

It's important to think of the challenges or problems in your life,

But EVEN MORE IMPORTANT is to 'PUT THEM DOWN' at the end of every day before You go to sleep..

That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh
&strong & can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your
way!

So, when you leave office today,

Remember friend to

'PUT THE GLASS DOWN TODAY! '

THO ZINDA HO TUM

Dilon mein tum apni betaabiyaan leke chal rahe ho
Tho zinda ho tum
Nazar mein khwaabon ki bijliyaan leke chal rahe ho
Tho zinda ho tum
Hawaa ke jhonkon ke jaise azad rehna seekho
Tum ek dariya ke jaise lehron mein behna seekho
Har ek lamhe se tum milo khole apni baahein
Har ek pal ik naya samaan dekhein yeh nigaahein
Jo apni aakhon mein hairaaniyaan leke chal rahe ho
Tho zinda ho tum

THEN YOU ARE ALIVE

If you are walking carrying immense restlessness in that heart of yours
Then you are alive
If you are walking carrying lightening of your dreams in your sight
Then you are alive
Learn to be free like the wind
Learn to flow like the waves of the ocean
Meet every moment with wide spread arms
Every moment let your eyes see a new world
If you are walking with wonders in your eyes
Then you are alive
If you are walking carrying immense restlessness in that heart of yours
Then you are alive

The Appointment at 9.00

It was a busy OPD in the evening, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 p.m. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On examination, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the nurse, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this evening, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat dinner with his wife. I inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not
recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every evening, even though she doesn't know who you are?' He smiled as he patted my hand and said,'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.'

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, 'That is the kind of love I want in my life.'
True love is neither physical, nor romantic.
True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

One thing I learned is
‘Life isn't about! How to survive the storm, But how to dance in the rain.'

'HAPPY DOCTOR DAY' to all my Men In White

On this special day I like to pay my respect to a special soul.

WOMEN IN WHITE, Dr. Karen Woo: a selfless Doctor who was gunned down in Afghanistan’s badlands in the month of August 2010 when she was on her way to deliver medical care to the poor people there. Karen Woo believed there was no greater duty than to deliver medical care to the poorest people.

Dr Karen Woo described her experiences in Afghanistan In a series of blog posts. In Her last post, just before her death she wrote.

"Ultimately, I believe that the provision of medical treatment is of fundamental importance and that the effort is worth it to assist those that need it most."

A letter from John Gurski to Woo on a Facebook page detailing the expedition:

"Dear Karen, the idea of you doing this just terrifies me. I know you want to do it, should do it, and will do it, but the idea of you venturing into such a hostile environment really worries me.
"That said, I think that what you are doing is the most selfless, courageous act of anyone I know. I am SO proud of you, and I am honored to know you. I understand that you are not doing it for the accolades or praise… you are taking this dangerous trek to actually make a difference in this world and, quite simply, to help fellow human beings. So many of us shake our heads at the state of the world, wring our hands, and send off a donation to the charity-du-jour. You, on the other hand, are setting an example for us all."
